we are thankful for …… so much!

I am so thankful for all of the wonderful people who have come into TREEHOUSE kid & craft over the past 2 years.  This little shop that I opened (against all odds) has grown to be something more beautiful that I ever could have imagined.  Athens is such a special place and I am so thankful that it embraces the things that makes this lil’ city so wonderful.

THANK YOU TO….

-All of the people who come into the shop…even if you are just browsing or playing.  We love you all!

-Our community!

-All of the folks that tell us they love our shop (and notice our silly & crafty details) it means a lot to us!

-All of the crafters who have joined us in our classes.  You have all helped the creative spirit of this place grow!

-My talented and dedicated staff and teachers (and previous staff too) All of your ideas and efforts have helped us grow!

-All of the local talents that make goodies for me to sell in the shop.

-All of the artisans who participate in our markets.

-And Luna Bakery for being great neighbors (and making great bread)

WITH OPEN ARMS & BIG HEARTS WE THANK YOU!

THINK SMALL & LOCAL this holiday season and help Athens wonderful.

Marigold Necklaces

Just a handful of years ago, I ran an Organic CSA farm. We would plant Marigolds in between rows and beds to naturally deter harmful insects and disease.  Making Marigold necklaces always brings back memories of those lovely days on the farm.

Marigolds have such a sweet aroma and they are long lasting so they work great for making necklaces, garlands, hair bands, and more.  This is one of those crafts that many ages can enjoy.  My daughter, Maypop made one for her favorite farm doll who she calls, Mama.
INGREDIENTS
a couple of handfuls of Marigolds
a large blunt embroidery needle
String
DIRECTIONS
-Lay your Marigolds out in your desired pattern
-Cut a piece of string or yarn long enough for your project
-Thread your Embroidery Needle
-Start lacing through the back of the flower.
***It is good to be gentle with these, they are quite durable but they can fall apart if you are not careful.
If you have any leftover Marigolds (only organic ones) toss them into a salad, they are edible!
See our project featured at www.blablakids.blogspot.com & get tons of inspiration as well!

I have been having SO MUCH FUN with the Mama/Papa & Me classes! I must admit that I was a little bit nervous, but they’re turning into my favorite part of the week. Thanks to Clementine, Emerson, Graham, Charlie, Mason, Lola, Willow, Frazier, Aurie, Story & every wee one that has explored & discovered the fun in arts & craftin’. It’s time to sign up for May & I look forward to seeing some new faces. xoHope

PLAY dough sensory activity

Today in our Mama/Papa and me class we made our own dough.  If you didn’t make it to class, don’t worry- we are sharing our recipe.  We added kool-aid to make it a sensory activity!
